Model to Balance an Acceptable Radon Level Indoors

چکیده
A theoretical model is presented for balancing an acceptable radon concentration in indoor air. The infiltration of from the ground to air can be controlled by barriers or lowering pressure at lower zone slab. Indoor with a higher than that outdoor further through effective dilution theory estimates allowed balance level indoors given ventilation rate, considering contribution materials, building materials and interior. method using this presented, identifying necessary airtightness required barrier building. Barriers include commercially used system solutions, such as bitumen-based blockers, wet-room membranes, reinforced fixed mortar pastes, polyethene membranes. Determining an acceptable level of risk.
Avoiding havoc A recent study by the Environmental Defense Fund shows that power plants, industry, and automobiles are leading sources of the nitrogen pollution that wreaks havoc on coastal ecosystems. Explosive blooms of algae nourished by nitrogen suffocate fish and shellfish populations and invade swimming beaches. Scrubbers on smokestacks designed to trap sulfur do not control nitrogen, but...
متن کاملUncertainty, variability and sensitivity analysis applied to the RAGENA model of radon generation, entry and accumulation indoors.
The application of a radon model is useful to understand the processes that drive the radon gas behaviour from its sources to its accumulation indoors. Since in a given inhabited house the detailed knowledge of the values of all the parameters that affect indoor radon levels is not available, the response of the model has to be explored in a reference site in which all the parameters are suppos...
متن کاملModel for screening-level assessment of near-field human exposure to neutral organic chemicals released indoors.
Screening organic chemicals for hazard and risk to human health requires near-field human exposure models that can be readily parametrized with available data. The integration of a model of human exposure, uptake, and bioaccumulation into an indoor mass balance model provides a quantitative framework linking emissions in indoor environments with human intake rates (iRs), intake fractions (iFs) ...
متن کاملDesign Criteria for Achieving Acceptable Indoor Radon Concentration
Design criteria for achieving an acceptable indoor radon concentration are presented in this paper. The paper suggests three design criteria. These criteria have to be considered at the early stage of the building design phase to meet the latest recommendations from the World Health Organization in most countries. The three design criteria are; first, establishing a radon barrier facing the gro...
متن کاملAcceptable noise level with Danish ,
Objective: Acceptable Noise Level (ANL) has been established as a method to quantify the acceptance of background noise while listening to speech presented at the most comfortable level. The aim of the present study was to generate Danish, Swedish, and a non-semantic version of the ANL test and investigate normal-hearing Danish and Swedish subjects’ performance on these tests. Design: ANL was m...
